Afternoon at The Bookend

This afternoon was filled with romance novels, cookbooks, fiction, biographies, gardening, inspirational, and non-fiction books at The Bookend, The Gently Used Bookstore, here in Blackstone, Virginia. I felt so rich being surrounded by so many wonderful books and periodicals!!

The Bookend was established in 2007 by The Friends of The Library for building funds to add to the existing library here in Blackstone. The bookstore is located at 102 W Maple Street in walking distance to all of downtown shops and restaurants. The store's hours are: Tues, Thurs, and Friday for 10am - 5pm. My volunteer shift was this afternoon from 1:30 to 5:00.

I had not visited the bookstore before today and was impressed in how neat the books were in their shelves - organized by author for fiction and subject matter for the nonfiction. We ended up taking home an armload of books for our guest rooms and I have a stack to pick up next week. We really like books!!!

I saw a note on the desk with the book title, "Watership Down" by Richard Adam. Have you read it yet? It is a great read!

Be sure to stop by The Bookend on your next visit to Blackstone. Tell them we sent you!

Watership Down? I loved that book! I would love to visit the Book End and of course The Grey Swan Inn! I will keep my eyes peeled on your Front Porch Swing Blog to read all about your area and all the interesting things to do! You have a beautiful place.
