Scuba Diving Near Blackstone, VA
For scuba diving enthusiasts and novices, come to Lake Rawlings! It is also well suited for swimming and kayaking.
Lake Rawlings was once a dry quarry supplying granite rock used in the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, I-85, and other major highway projects. When miners hit an aquifer in the late 50's, Lake Rawlings was created. Now, Lake Rawlings is a full-service diving destination, offering SCUBA, camping, instructional, and other specialized services to their guests. Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser
The Southside Virginia Habitat for Humanity will hold a community dinner on Saturday, July 26th, 2008 to raise funds for its next home. The dinner will be from 5 to 7 pm and held at the Nottoway Civic League, 1010 Mt Nebo Rd, Blackstone, VA.
The meal will include BBQ, cole slaw, baked beans, iced tea, and dessert. Take-out orders will be available, also.
Tickets are $8 for the dinner and are available for purchase in advance at either Benchmark Community banks in Blackstone or Citizen's Bank and Trust in Crewe. Tickets will also be available at the door.
All proceeds will go toward construction of a new home in Blackstone.
